The Security Patrol position is primarily responsible to respond to Emergency Call Units alarms in the independent living buildings; programming ECU systems; building alarms (fire, intrusion); complete building lock up and unlock; perform campus patrols to act as a deterrent to crime; complete maintenance work orders and provide quality customer service to campus residents, staff and visitors. The position requires a significant amount of commitment and focus during the training period to build an understanding of the campus, its buildings and systems.


  1. Patrol Christian Care property and facilities as a deterrent to crime and criminal activity.
  2. Respond to medical emergency alarms as they occur.
  3. Keep the Customer Service Representative on duty informed of unusual activity or people encountered.
  4. Request assistance before making contact with suspicious persons, or attempting to resolve potentially dangerous situations.
  5. Resolve all situations in the best interests of Christian Care, its residents and employees.
  6. Submit a report of your activities while on duty.
  7. Report in detail all unusual occurrences happening during your shift.
  8. Maintain good relations with residents, employees and visitors in the Christian Care Community.
  9. Present a professional image by keeping a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance and by keeping all equipment clean and in good repair.
  10. Investigate incidents of theft, vandalism, arson, etc. Supply a written report of findings to department supervisor.
  11. Ticket illegally parked cars and record license number.
  12. When police or fire department are summoned, meet the vehicles as they arrive and direct emergency personnel to the area where they are needed with the medical sheet when able.
  13. Be present when emergency personnel are in an apartment to prevent theft or false accusation of theft.
  14. When a resident is taken to the hospital, check that the apartment or house is locked and all electrical appliances are turned off.
  15. Lock and unlock residential buildings at the appointed time.
  16. Unlock apartment buildings when required for residents arriving home after hours.
  17. Escort employees and residents to and from their cars as required during night.
  18. Respond to after hour’s maintenance emergency calls, to determine the need and who should be called.
  19. Enforce posted restrictions such as “No Trespassing”, “No Parking”, “No Soliciting”,     etc.
  20. Other duties as required by the Facility Manager, or Executive Director.


One year experience in security, law enforcement or related field. General knowledge of housing, hospitality and health care services available to Seniors. Ability to proficiently use computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and Windows. Requires the ability to speak, read, and write the English language in a clear and understandable manner.
