    Follows physician’s orders and facility policies and procedures in ordering, storing, accounting for and administering drugs, treatments and tube feedings.  Serves as a resource for the licensed nursing staff; completing treatments, gathering data, and documentation as assigned. Full-time hours as assigned by DNS


    1. Orders medications and supplies to provide a sufficient level according to established procedure. Continually reviews stock to insure proper supply.
    2. Follows specific physician orders for the administration of all drugs and treatments. Questions shall be referred to the charge nurse, when necessary.
    3. Records on a timely basis all medications/treatments administered, including reasons for and effect of "PRN" medications. Medications refused shall be noted.
    4. Documents on the nurse’s notes significant observations regarding the resident's needs for and/or response to medications/treatment.
    5. Stores medications in a safe manner and accounts for all controlled substances through accurate recording and counting with nurses at change of shifts.
    6. Orders, stores and administers tube feedings.
    7. Provides supervision of resident care on the floor in conjunction with or in the absence of the charge nurse.
    8. Prepares incident reports relating medication errors or reactions to medication.
    9. Ensures that all charges for treatment supplies kept current.
    10. Attends educational workshops to maintain and improve skills.
    11. Attends regularly scheduled in-services.
    12. Receives report at beginning of shift and informs charge nurse of any pertinent information to be passed along in report at end of shift.
    13. Other duties or responsibilities as agreed upon by charge nurse and/or Director of Nursing.


    Graduate of an approved school for licensed practical nursing or registered nursing; must show evidence of a current, valid license for the State of Arizona. Previous experience in a geriatric setting preferred. Good communication skills necessary including fluent English both verbally and written. Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and registered nurses (RNs) are required to have, and provide evidence of, certification in CPR for Healthcare Providers upon hire; certification must be renewed and remain current throughout employment.
