    Responsibilities

    • Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes.
    • Keep a detailed inventory of baking ingredients; assist in the monitoring of inventory of other foods.
    • Create new and exciting desserts to engage the interest of our residents.
    • Decorate pastries using different icings; toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards.

    Qualifications

    • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school graduation certificate or GED.
    • Must have at least 2 years’ experience in a high-volume kitchen.
    • Vocational or technical education in food production, sanitation, and safety desirable.
    • Know basic principles of quantity and quality food production, sanitation, safety, and the maintenance of equipment in working area.
    • Must be able to do mathematical calculations in changing recipes, estimating quantities required, portioning food, accurate in weighing and measuring foods.
    • Must hold a current Arizona Food Handlers Sanitation card.
    • Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)
    • Must understand, speak, read and write fluent English.
    • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
    • Must show proof of a current (within 6 months) negative TB test.
