    The purpose of this position is to provide a broad range of support services to the residents of Christian Care Companies.

    Responsibilities

    • Medication administration duties and responsibilities:
    • Administers prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records; residents MAR(medication administration records)
    • Verifies identity of patient receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time and route of administration on specified forms or records.
    • Properly document any medication refusals; also notify nurse, family and physician.
    • Takes vital signs and document the results. Informed the nurse of any abnormal ranges.
    • Order medications as needed. Follow up with pharmacy and or family to ensure medication is delivered in a timely manner.
    • Complete the proper documentation for any errors or incidents involving prescribed medications.
    • Explain to resident the medications being administer and the reason for administration.(if needed)
    • Assisted other caregivers with other essential duties.
    • Assisted with residents admissions.(Providing proper information to residents and residents family)
    • Completed documentation on residents that are on Alert charting, and resident who have had a recent incident as well as new resident.

     

    Document the pain scale, effectiveness, time and initials of all opioid medications.  

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

    1. Ability to communicate with and relate well to elder population.
    2. Ability to work in confined spaces.
    3. Ability to provide quality assistance and care for a fragile population in accordance with State of Arizona Department of Health Services regulations for Assisted Living caregivers.
    4. Knowledge of proper transfer procedures and body mechanics.
    5. Proper operation and use of housekeeping supplies and equipment.
    6. Basic knowledge of documentation and record keeping procedures.
    7. Ability to read and interpret written procedures and directions.
    8. Ability to lift, bend, stretch, squat, stand and other movements to perform resident assistant functions and reach in confined spaces.
    9. Manual dexterity adequate for care procedures.
    10. Ability to transfer residents with appropriate assistance (i.e. from bed to              wheelchair or from wheelchair to toilet).
    11. Ability to read, comprehend and follow written instructions and company policies.
    12. Basic computer knowledge.
    13. Able communicate with residents to set daily/weekly schedule.
    14. Be aware of individual resident service needs and the services to be provided on a scheduled and on-call basis.
    15. Report verbally and in writing, on individual resident’s abilities and potential changes to the service needs. Notes should be left in /Daily Notes for other staff.
    16. Able to assist with ADL’s as listed but not limited to the following:

     

              Bathing:           assistance based on the service plan (full, stand by, partial)

              Oral hygiene:   Brushing teeth, denture care, mouth washes

              Hair care:         Combing, shaving male & female with electric razor

            Toileting:           Assisting to bathroom, bedside commode/urinal

              Dressing:           Assisting, total, prosthetic devices, tedhose

              Ambulation:       Assist residents in wheelchair or escort for safety

             Listening:                  Good Listening Skills

              Hearing aid:       Putting in, replacing of batteries, wiping clean

    1. Able to do welfare checks on residents in their units
    2. Able to do laundry, wash, dry, fold/hang clothing
    3. Able to change bedding
    4. Able to prepare/set up for a meal
    5. Able to push 170 pounds in a wheelchair.
    6. Assist other departments as needed to ensure a safe working environment is maintained. This would include reporting safety hazards promptly to Security/AL manager.
    7. Able to complete Housekeeping Services as needed

    Other duties as required from time to time ensuring good continuity of service.

    Qualifications

    High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) and

    two years of assisted living experience, medication administration experience a must. Current CPR and First Aid cards, Fingerprint Clearance card and current TB test. Be available for day shift, including weekends.
