Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Project Management to join our team and play a key role in driving the success of our projects! This individual is responsible for developing and implementing the planning, management, and execution of multiple concurrent interrelated complex projects whose combined success is critical to the organization’s overall strategic objectives and initiatives. The incumbent must facilitate and foster collaboration between executive project sponsors and project teams.

 

This position must serve as the subject matter expert on the utilization of project management tools and methodology ensuring an integrated approach resulting in the successful implementation of projects; provides coaching in effective project management methodologies and behaviors, ranging from routine to advanced; assesses and determines project costs and timelines in the management of corporate-wide projects. The individual in this position will be reporting directly to the IT Director.

Responsibilities

  1. Must be able to manage business sponsor relationships and cross-functional teams providing influence on senior level management and key stakeholders.
  2. Implements and maintains project timeframes, budgeting estimates and status reports
  3. Expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of project management lifecycle methodology.
  4. Participates in formulating the design and direction of project management standards and policies.
  5. Leads development and implementation of standard project management tools and methodologies. Mentors key stakeholders.
  6. Requires leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams.
  7. Oversees major projects comprised of multiple, interdependent projects/programs, which includes coordinating dependencies between key tactics and milestones within the projects in order to realize the overall collective benefit of the major project.
  8. Consults with and is accountable to executive sponsors for the review of major project proposals and collaboration to identify project goals, time frames, funding limitations, and allotment of resources.
  9. Leads and coordinates with related subset project teams to define and obtain consensus on complex projects including scope, objectives, assumptions, deliverables, constraints, and obtaining, verifying and establishing the project budget.
  10. Determines and executes sponsor approval process.
  11. Works with department leaders to obtain appropriately skilled project resources.
  12. Assumes direct responsibility for project/program success.
  13. Plans and executes complex and ambiguous major interrelated projects/programs and prioritizes related subset projects.
  14. Uses the work breakdown structure and/or user stories to drive the development of the integrated work plan; creates and implements issues management plan, risk management plan, communication plan, change relating to management plan, relationship management plan, and backlog.
  15. Responsible for coordinating complex and ambiguous projects that involves leading multiple teams towards the attainment of objectives associated with the interrelated large-scale, multi-facility, high-risk, large budget functional projects across numerous departments system wide.
  16. Evaluates and manages change to ensure business objectives are met.
  17. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  2. Should have 5-7 years’ experience of relevant Project Management experience and a PMP certification or 10 plus years of relevant Project Management experience.
  3. Must possess strong business and project management knowledge as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in business or related field experience, including the management of system-wide projects involving multiple individual projects, or/and equivalent combination of relevant education, technical, business, information technology, and retirement community experience.
  4. Knowledge of principles, strategies, and desirable results for managing large-scale, multi-disciplinary efforts comprising parallel projects.
  5. Advanced computer skills and in-depth knowledge of different operating systems, network administration, and service desk administration.
  6. Requires ability to communicate and interact across facilities at various levels.
  7. Analytical and critical thinking skills to handle any issues that occur during the project completion.
  8. Organization and time management skills to keep project on track and within budget.
  9. Excellent resource planning and task scheduling skills.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Project Management experience in the retirement community environment preferred.
  2. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  3. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with staff.
  4. Highly resourceful team player, with the ability to also be extremely effective.
  5. Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem solving with strong decision-making capability.
  6. Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer service and response.
  7. Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions.
