Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activities Coordinator to coordinate and execute events for our Assisted Living community. To succeed as an Activities Coordinator, you should strive to engage in activities that are appealing and appropriate for the age and physical or emotional conditions of our residents. We are looking for a professional team player who can help bring joy and fun to our seniors while preserving their dignity and quality of life.

 

The purpose of this position is to support the Director of Activities on the Surprise campus by assisting in planning, developing, organizing, and implementing social and leisure time activity programs on the campus. This person must bring a special combination of energy, enthusiasm, positive motivation and self-direction to the job.  He/she must possess superior customer service orientation and be dedicated to seeing each resident’s needs are met.

Sunday - Thursday 8AM - 4:30 PM

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the execution, physical set-up, and staffing of in-house events and classes.
  • Staff off-site resident excursions in the community.
  • Assist with resident reservations and activity sign-up records.
  • Disseminate activity schedules to residents, including monthly event postings and newsletters.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm attitude when visiting with staff and residents.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident information to assure resident rights are protected.
  • Responsible for the activity programs for The Oasis assisted living and memory care residents.

  • Understands the social, intellectual, and psychological needs of seniors; and the needs of seniors with memory impairments such as, but not limited to Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with the residents with good listening and verbal skills.

  • Ability to prepare monthly newsletter and calendar using the computer, Microsoft Office, Yardi, Splashtop, and other applicable software.

  • Monitors common/activity areas and the library to ensure proper utilization of time, equipment and space.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing and speak the English language.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Able to make independent decisions when in various circumstances.
  • Must possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Office and administrative skills a must.
  • Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Publisher.
  • Experience working with seniors a plus.
  • Able to take and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Team player, dedicated worker, and enjoys having fun!
