Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Manager to lead the Assisted Living Food Service Department at our facility. This role is critical in ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality, nutritious meals to our residents in accordance with all Federal, State, and local regulations, as well as our facility’s standards and procedures.

 

As the Kitchen Manager, you will plan, organize, develop, and direct the daily operations of the department. You will work closely with the Director of Food Services, Consultant Dietitian, and Assisted Living Management to uphold excellence in service, safety, and resident satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the dietary department, including planning, implementation, and evaluation of food service programs.
  • Collaborate with administration and other departments to ensure integrated and effective food service operations.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and productive working environment among dietary staff and with other facility departments.
  • Establish, implement, and review dietary policies, procedures, job descriptions, and nutritional standards.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and resident rights.
  • Manage departmental budgeting, inventory, and purchasing with oversight from the Director of Food Services.
  • Conduct assessments, participate in care planning, and communicate regularly with residents and their families to understand dietary needs and preferences.
  • Supervise and evaluate dietary staff performance, including involvement in hiring, training, and staff development.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions and documentation.
  • Stay current with industry trends and regulatory requirements through continued education and training.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; culinary school graduate preferred.
  • Certified Dietary Manager or equivalent certification required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in supervisory, staff development, and clinical roles within healthcare food services.
  • Current food handler’s card required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and effectively communicate with staff, residents, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in basic math and the ability to prepare reports and follow procedural documentation.
