Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and energtic Director of Activities to help coordinate and execute events for our Indpendent Living community. The Director of Activities will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing a robust calendar of engaging, purposeful, and meaningful on-campus and off-campus events and activities for residents of Fellowship Square.

 

Success in this role as the Director of Activities, requires creativity, organization, and a strong customer-service mindset, with the goal of enhancing residents’ quality of life and promoting community involvement. This position works closely with the Director of Resident Experience and other departments to ensure successful collaboration across campus and acts as a liaison for vendors, volunteers, and event partners.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead all on-site and off-site resident activities, classes, community outings, presentations, and events.
  • Work closely with the Director of Resident Experience to develop and implement daily, monthly, and annual programs that reflect residents' interests and needs.
  • Act as the lead contact for all vendors, entertainers, instructors, and guest presenters. Coordinate scheduling, setup, contracts, and follow-up.
  • Participate in physical setup, tear-down, and staffing of events and activities.
  • Update and manage resident communications including TV slides, flyers, monthly newsletters, and calendars.
  • Maintain organized records for activity attendance, sign-ups, and volunteer participation.
  • Accompany residents on community excursions and ensure all safety procedures and transportation needs are met.
  • Maintain and update the InTouch Link program and digital communication tools.
  • Provide support and customer service to residents regarding event sign-ups, activity details, and scheduling.
  • Respond to resident needs, feedback, and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
  • Support the volunteer program: recruit, schedule, oversee, and recognize volunteers.
  • Oversee the operations of the on-campus Fabulous Finds Thrift Store.
  • Assist with coordination of campus fundraising efforts and annual volunteer recognition events.
  • Present Fellowship Square in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Commit to continuous professional development and education in senior living activities programming.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent. 
  • Additional education or certification in recreation, hospitality, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 year's experience in an activities or senior living environment perferrred.
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing and speak the English language.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Experience with activity planning, event coordination, and volunteer management highly desired.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to relate well to older adults, their families, and fellow team members.
  • Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint, and other communication platforms.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergencies and exercise sound judgment.
  • Capable of working independently while also collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Must love having fun and creating fun for our seniors.

Schedule: M - F with some weekends and holidays
