Job Description: 

The purpose of this position is to ensure that Fellowship Square and Oasis are kept in a clean, sanitary, safe, orderly, attractive manner in accordance with established procedures, to assure that the highest degree of cleanliness and sanitation is always maintained.  The position is a working position, with the Housekeeping Supervisor actively participating in the maintenance and cleaning of units/areas as needed.  The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of housekeeping staff, assignment of duties, inventory, employee evaluations as well as communication with residents and staff.  The Housekeeping Supervisor works closely with other departments.

Ability to communicate with and relate well to staff, elder population, and the public in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.

Ability to read/write and speak English.

Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and company policies.

Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Ability to prioritize job duties.

Ability to supervise, evaluate, and train staff as needed.

Ability to communicate with residents/staff to set daily/weekly schedules.

Ability to manage and revise schedules when employees are absent due to whatever reason the employee is absent from work.

Assure that adequate supplies of cleaning supplies are available through proper inventory procedures.

Manage department budget.

Ability to properly operate and use housekeeping supplies and equipment; to minimize waste of supplies and misuse of equipment.

Ability to lift, bend, stretch, squat, stand and other movements to perform housekeeper/janitor duties and reach confined spaces.

Manual dexterity adequate for equipment operation and use.

Ability to establish cleaning schedules/instructions as outlined in established housekeeping policies and procedures.

Ability to learn and demonstrate safe and proper techniques for chemical/cleaning solution use.

Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Ability to move furniture as needed for cleaning.

Ability to understand how to strip, mop, refinish/buff floors.

Ability to vacuum/clean carpets in resident apartments and public areas including stairwells.

Ability to clean adjoining outside areas to maintain clean entryways.

Will assist with apartment cleaning as needed.

Manage and approve timecards for payroll.

Other duties as required from time to time ensure a clean and safe environment

At least 3 years' of prior experience in apartment or hotel cleaning. A desire to communicate with seniors a MUST. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs., bend and stand for long periods of time. Specific Requirements: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals written in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Bilingual preferred. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to present oneself in an orderly manner. Willingness to adapt to the changing demands of this position. Be helpful and polite to residents, to be understanding of their needs and respect their privacy, personal property and confidentiality. Keep areas of responsibility clean, neat and organized. Cooperate with and be polite to all staff, residents and visitors.
